  • Re: MCL Link system, BM5500

Yey, it was the soldering! One of my mates who's a master solderer, de-oxidiser, etc. sorted the DIN plugs and now, touch wood, all's well. Just need to keep hunting for an X-tra speaker set. ;)

Hi, Thanks a lot for this. This is the same kit I have, yey! :) I think the connection to this box went quite well. It's the other end of the cable that's proving a soldering nightmare for me. The one that must get attached to the 3-pin DIN plugs and go in the back of the BM5500. I'll go now and check the impedance setting, too. Cheers again

  • MCL Link system, BM5500

Hi, everyone I've finally started my link project. Yey! (though I still need an additional X-tra passive speaker kit, but that's another matter...) Anyway, the guy who sold me an X-tra speaker kit a while back also (very, very kindly) sent me loads of other cables, including a bit of MCL cable with 2 3-pin DIN plugs. I tested the 2 X-tra speaker

  • Re: Making a very very long iPod to B&O cable

Just out of curiosity: could I achieve the same thing with AppleTV as with the Airport Express? I am thinking of being able to connect the AppleTV via HDMI to my Tv and via analogue audio to my BM5500. Is there already a cable that goes from ATV to old BMs like the 5500? Would I be able to control what's currently playing from my PC upstairs (as

Nah, that's very cool of you all to suggest things to avoid making big mistakes. Yep, I was thinking of a cheap way around things, but if it means rubbish quality I'll definitely forget about it. I've got an iPod Nano (or rather I had, as my lady has taken a very strong liking to it ;). If everyone is suggesting the Airport Express, I guess

  • Making a very very long iPod to B&O cable

Hi, guys My problem is this: I haven't got the money for an MCL2AV + MC2P to listen to my computer music in my study and I really don't want any more power cables around my house anyway. However, I'd like to make a very long audio cable (30m or so) and connect it to TAPE2 on my BM5500 downstairs. Maplin seem to have quite a lot of stuff

  • Re: Just my luck!!

macsat's link was wicked! I found a white 5500 system . My only problem now is negotiating the turntable out of it and getting that to Leeds somehow ... well, life's not getting any better (especially not after running around for some MCL cable for months - man, am I that old-fashioned to want a little bit of MCL cable? well, about 30m, to be

  • Beolab 3500 with BM5500

Hi, guys I'm still working on my project to wire up the house. I've got as far as refurbishing some RL45's - man, they sound a lot better than the CX100's. I wasn't aware that the Beolab 3500 was MCL compatible, too (at least the early version) and I was wonderign what the procedure was to integrate it into a link system. My understanding

  • Re: Just my luck!!

Loooool :) The seller suggested I buy the lot off him and then resell individually the stuff I don't need (pretty much everything apart from the turntable), thus making a profit. Not a good solution for me, I'm afraid ... Well, I guess I'll just need to hang on for a bit longer...
