wirralsimon: Puncher: As in all things HiFi there is a lot a bo**ocks talked about capacitors (similar to cables etc). I agree with yachadm in principal but I would be wary of some of the prices of some of the so called audio-grade caps - many are priced for selling to the cable brigade! Direct digital from any Cd player to your BL5's will let them sing at their (designed) best. Fear not and enjoy all they have to offer. (He said feeling particularly jealous)

Sorry for being flippant - I assumed this would be leapt upon by a stream of respondants given the history on the site of "cable" debates. If I understand you correctly then the cable you are referring to is being used for digital signal transmission between the BeoCentre 2 and the BeoSystem 3. If this is the case then there is absolutely

When Martin said they were under dimensioned I believe he was referring to the voltage rating. Changing the capacitance will alter the cutoff frequencies of the various filters in the cross over and is not a good idea. If you can get the same capacitance with a higher voltage rating (and temperature if possible) should mean the capacitors will be slightly

When you get it working you can tell Peter all about it - stop him looking at these separate DAC thingymajigs

Die_Bogener: In this plan are bipolar caps used, no polarized. So, somebody has replaced your caps with the wrong ones. They are definitely wrong. In this application plastic capacitors (type WIMA MKP or MKT ) should make the best sound, dont use standard electrolytic bipolar caps. Agreed - although bipolar caps will certainly be better that whats in

If the amplifier output stage has a single-ended power supply then polarised caps are OK, although I'm not sure how you can be certain that this will always be the case in a pair of passive speakers.

Medogsfat: A very heartfelt congrat's to all last nights winners from me too . Nothing for us in Yorkshire again, but we're used to being at the back of the queue when good fortune is handed out (is that violin music I can hear in the background? ) Chris. More likely be Dvorak’s New World Symphony
