The MX4200 has a different tube to all the other sets - it uses a Panasonic real flat tube. If you look at the contrast screen, you can see how it differs markedly. Made taking the picture of it more difficult! I thought the BV1 had a Philips derived screen. Agree about the chassis though.

Yes - 8344094 - but whether B&O will sell it to you is another matter. Get the firmware updated at the same time - 7.23b - that is changed by using an update disc in the player - stops the odd menu appearing.

Silly question from me! Why? The most up to date software is 1.6 for this model and only fixes a problem where the DVD can stop playing half way through. I don't think there are other advantages. It means replacing a chip on PCB1 but I am sure you could do this - if you had the chip! Not much inside the DVD1!

The 8000s are the best looking speaker made by B&O IMHO. They are quite a bit better but also quite a bit more expensive. Tha amplifiers are different and better though bass is no more extended than 4000s in my view. The top end is sweeter though. They also go a fair bit louder! There were some free sets being offered by King Street a few weeks ago - I would keep looking especially in places like Loot where you may find some sub £100 sets. The 4200 will still be pricey as will the BV1 / BC1 that seem to be keeping their values.

You need a dish - I too live in a 200+ year old cottage but the dishes these days are really not that big and you can always place them away from the house if necessary. The system is not flexible enough for your plans but you can have multiple boxes and use them independently. You could have a separate Sky box upstairs working as V.Aux and retain control

Sky+ integrates very well with B&O and offers two tuners and a decent sized HDD. Works fully with a Beo4. Having said that, thanks to Keith, most external devices will work with a Beo5 now.

I have to say I completely agree - it is not as if this module was exactly rushed onto the market either. It should work flawlessly. However I would strongly consider Sky or Sky+. These boxes can be hidden away and work seemlessly with B&O TVs via the STB-C/PUC. In the case of Sky+, you also get two tuners. The B&O DTV module is simply too expensive
