That the displays light up is no guarantee that the amplifier stages are powered. Any faults in these will cause the safety circuit to kick in. In this case, the Beomaster 8000 will power up with a series of 3-4 relay clicks rather than the normal 2, depending on the fault it may even give a brief flash of the "clipping" lamp. The "simplest"

Yes, those idle current trimmers are often past their exp. date. and will easily affect your electric bill. They don't go out of adjustment, they go bad. Sometimes you can adjust back and forth, eventually breaking through oxidation, duse etc. to find a spot where it looks fine but that's just until the Beomaster has been moved around or gets

I've been travelling a lot lately so time for repairs has been limited. The fault turned out to be something quite simple though not immediately obvious. It will be heading its way back next saturday and, to be honest, the greatest challenge regarding this Beogram 4000 repair turned out to be with the danish customs. Martin

Yours are the type 6301. They are very different from the type 6317, nothing at all in common besides the name, not even the size. They are a bit different soundwise and your S30's (the physically smaller ones) are not the worst sounding speakers around. Bigger is not always better. Cap kits are readily available for both models. Martin

25+ years will have any stereo asking for some kind of service. Your Beocord 8004 will need new belts and a fuse replaced if the waves go high. Why you bother ? Because you wouldn't settle for some black japanese plastic stereo. - And your B&O can be repaired - and it will be worth it. Martin

Forgive me for answering very briefly, I'm currently travelling. 1. Standard issue. Cleaning and lubricating, Maybe a new belt. 2. Open inputs will always be very sensitive (due to high impedances). It's not uncommon to see that if you switch to an unused input and turn up the volume (amplification), you can hear what's present on other

Yes, let us know what is missing. In case of the CPU, ask them to check out the reset circuit before deaming out teh processor, there's a trimmer there that goes bad a.o. Martin

It really is a job for a trained electronics guys with the components in the drawer and the tools and instruments on the bench. If everything else is fine it's a one hour job so shouldn't be a costly repair. Martin

Sure, replace the idle current trimmers and readjust to factory spec. Do one channel at a time. Start with the one having the highest idle current since this is the one that causes the problem and if not done first it will shut down the Beomaster while you try to adjust the other one. Martin
