Could well be the actual speaker - if you move the cone when the radio is off, does it sound coarse? It should move relatively easily and with no sticking.If it does seem to stick, the sound can be very poor. This would mean having the speaker rebuilt as drive units are very difficult to find. It should have a warm and full sound when working.

I have Beofrutiger as my font for letters! I cannot remember how I got it but it is rather a nice font. The Beo5 font is slightly different.

Not too tricky to take apart but more difficult to put back together!! If you do end up taking it apart, replace the red capacitors and I dare say that the variable resistors mentioned may also disintegrate so they may well need replacing as well! Dillen does a kit for this model.

Must be a fault in the weighing setting. In most there is an adjustment to alter the weight of the record able to be lighted. Put an extra weight on the record and see if it still does it.
