Martin, Your new belts solved my problem. Thank you so very much! Jeff

Peter, Thank you for the advice, I feel much more confident having it come from you. My Beogram 4000 initially operated very well indeed (once I repaired the damage from shipping) with the fast forward and fast reverse. However, in spite of the previous owner’s $350 repair bill, I noted when it arrived that there was absolutely NO lubrication

Derek, The 4002 in question is pretty far gone. My current set up is using the Beogram 4000 and 4004 with my McIntosh 2205 which requires RCA plugs. So what I have works, it is just ugly and poorly executed. My thought was to replace the entire cable with a proper grey DIN connector and use an adaptor that just plugs in. As for the electrical cord,

What is the best lubricant for the Beogram 4000 series. I was told that sewing machine oil was the best. Now silicone grease is mentioned s the best lubricant. So I am confused. This evening while playing several records brilliantly I attempted to fast forward my Beogram 4000 and received, at best, a staccato advance. The play is flawless as is the

I admit going into this question that I am something of a perfectionist, however I have managed to bring my Beogram 4000 up to a level that having a chopped electrical cord and DIN cable really bothers me. The Beogram 4000 was originally sold in Berlin, Germany and as such had a 220v electrical plug as will as the expected DIN cable. However when the

Thanks Derek, It sure helps having an idea what to do BEFORE you start on one of these adjustments. When I adjusted the diaphragm to curtail the 4-5mm back and forth horizontal arm movement, the first thing I noticed was the tonearm did not pick up at end of play. Another simple adjustment, but I didn’t think to check play position of the tonearm

New issue with a Beogram 4002. I had a problem with the tone arm making very broad back and forth movements, about 4-5mm during play. An adjustment of the diaphragm corrected this. However now during play the tonearm moves fairly close to the other arm. Once at rest the arms are equal distance, but as soon as the tone arm begins to play, it “catches

Mika, thanks for the input. Much appreciated. Hey Barto, just for good memories’ sake, I used to own two stores in Redmond and Bellevue called Auto Gear. Ancient history now, but it was fun. OK, so I will add my voice to Barto in Seattle, where can I find silicon grease on Vancouver Island? Jeff

Sorry about providing an email address, I didn’t know that we were not supposed to do this. Live and learn. When I was having a terrible time trying to get my Beogram 8000 up and running, Bill Rapp was beyond helpful. Then when I couldn’t find parts anywhere for my shattered (literally) Beocord 8004, Bill provided a new glass panel and an

My local audio dealer recommended sewing machine oil which I used on my Beogram 4002. Seemed to work well, but now after all this talk about silicon grease I wonder if I have made the wrong choice. What do you think? Jeff
