Via a 'Range Reducer', which you should be able to purchase at your B&O dealer. It's what they use and it just slides on the end of your Beo4.

I recently picked up a Beogram 8002 for virtually nothing. It was untested and apparently had been in storage for quite a few years. Here’s the problem: when I press play, the tone arm begins to move over to the record, but almost immediately retracts back to its rest position. If I repeatedly press play it will eventually move over to the record

Does anyone want a free Beocord 8004? The heads engage when play is pressed, but immediately retract, which apparently means the belt(s) are bad. Cosmetics are very good/excellent. Going into the trash on Wednesday so pls respond quickly. Must be willing to pay shipping from NYC of course.

But then the sliders would still be triggered to open and the lights would burn brightly. Not a good idea to let it remain in this state.

With regard to the BS 9000, the preferred version is the current Mk III, which have been manufactured since 2001. You can identify them by their Type # = 257x, which is located under the lift-off control panel. You can also spot them by the absence of a red on/off button, which the other versions had. It never hurts to try cleaning the tape heads. Use a commercial head cleaning audio cassette from Discwasher, Maxell, etc., or apply a drop or two of isopropyl alcohol to a Q-Tip (cotton bud) and use that.

Yes. But I have seen 2500's with the vertical tracking lens. Possibly repaired units(?)

Is the item in back of the speaker an office machine, or is this how the customer altered his Beolab 5?

Given they're 25 years old, replacements wouldn't be available from B&O. I've found that metal polish removes some marks but don't rub too hard or else you'll give the metal a shiny finish instead of matte. If yours are in really bad shape you might consider buying a unit in need of repair (wtih good cosmetics) off of eBay. Swap

I verified it on mine. 5 incorrect PIN entries sent it into 'Wait' mode, with red light flashing.
