I believe its a 400V capacitor so should be fine. Did you experience problems with these mustard colored caps ? Martin
-
It may not be obvious to everyone, but this type of mustard colored capacitor was heavily used in the late 50's and up through the 60s. It was definitely not around in 1938 so it must be the result of a previous repair. No surprise since the original capacitor in this position would have been a wax-paper type and it would have started to leak many

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I am very tempted to buy the output transformer theory. The transformer works in that it passed signal from my signal generator to the speaker but if the impedance is correct, that's a different story. One of the things I didn't check when I had my own Beolit 39 down for comparison. Anyway, to explain

Hi and welcome to Beoworld ! Have you tried the speaker switches under the large aluminum lid ? Martin

Valves are generally long-lived but unlike transistors and diodes, that usually either work or not, valves get worn with use and gradually loses emission. With this in mind, I would like to replace the frontend valve, in this case a CCH2. The CCH2 is actually a quite rare valve and finding one would normally be a bit hard but I was proved wrong; I put

Long time passed and not a lot was done to this project for different reasons. I've had two consecutive water damages in my repairshop that forced me to evacuate the rooms. First one was "just" 4-5000 liters, second time is not clear but it was considerably more since noone was at home when it happened. Moving out is quite a task but luckily

I agree with Peter. Since you are using an external RIAA, I take it that there are no CD4 module or RIAA built in your Beogram. This leaves the Beogram with absolutely no electronics in the signal path so the only sources of problems would be the cartridge, the tonearm leads, the signal cable and the muting relay. Actually relay contacs usually fails

And be aware of the danish postal charges before buying from a private seller. A BM6000/4 with packaging weighs in at more than 20Kgs so our royal postal service Postdanmark is a no-go. Courier services as DHL, GLS or UPS won't pickup unless at corporate addresses so shipping could be extremely expensive if at all possible. Nice BM6000/4's are

It's a threaded shaft, driven by a motor and a belt. Maybe he refers to the belt, which is available and easy to replace if that's the only fault. Martin

The vertical tracking angle depends on the record height - or, in other words, record thickness. That's correct but the tonearm sits on the same subchassis as the platter so riding a little lower due to record weight (or an eventual clamp) won't affect the tracking angle. I agree with Chris in that a clamp won't normally be needed unless
