• Re: Beolab 8000 power but no sound

Hello Rex, welcome to the forum! What you need to do now is some organized troubleshooting. have you checked the input switches on the speakers, perhaps the left one is now on "line" and just picks up some noise that keeps it turned on? swap the speaker cables at the Beosound end, does the problem move? swap the speaker cables at the speaker
So if I get home and the emitter is emitting IR light, then the receiver wouldn't be working.
Do bear in mind that some versions have a normal light bulb there (like my BG6000, for example). Martin, can you elaborate why the arm wouldn't or couldn't lower outside the platter? Mine certainly does

Just to clarify, I was talking about the bulb that shines through the "ruler", the clear plastic bar with black stripes that moves along with the carriage. Martin meant the one inside the base of the tonearm, which you can't really see without removing some parts. It may shine through a little from some angle. But anyway, neither of these

As far as I understand, you should still be able to lower the arm manually outside the platter (or on a record) if the position sensor isn't working. But, you're right in that it will definitely hose the automatic functions - since the deck never "sees" the landing zones, the arm will go on and on until the end limit switch aborts

  • Re: Seriniti ... ? A new mobile phone

I may be missing something, but I fail to see what the news is and what this fuss is all about. I thought it has been clear for months that the CEO has announced that mobile phones are done, finished, over & out, and taking that announcement back would be very bad for investor relations; the upcoming Beocom 5, or whatever it will be called, is a

  • Re: Headphone Pads replacement

What exactly can you get for 12-15 pounds these days? Around these parts, it would get you about 3-4 kg of ground beef. And that would definitely look silly around your ears.

  • Re: Beomaster 6000 with a fault in the power supply
By the way, I only now saw that the axial caps used in the amplifier section are described as -10/+50% in the service manual. I replaced them with +/-20% ones, will that make any difference?
Hardly - electrolytic caps traditionally have very broad tolerances. If some applications requires an exact capacitance

  • Re: BL 5 Serial number and age?
Beolab 5 from 1996 ..?? I think they started in 2003......
This numbering scheme should apply to most (all?) products, not just Beolab 5s.
