The laser current setting shouldn't be touched unless MEASURED wrong according to the service manual and compared to what is stated on the label on the laser block itself. I don't think the fault in your deck is caused by a wrong setting of laser current. Dealing with the laser current adjustment without proper means of measuring would be playing

Clean the track rod that the laser block slides on using isopropanol (tapehead cleaner) and a soft cloth. Step to outer tracks on a 70min+ CD to access the inner part. Clean also the tiny bearing ball at the left side bracket (a couple of screws to go there). Give the ball and track rod a little sewing machine oil, step the laser block through the full

The Beomaster 2400 has 5-pin DIN for the tape input as you will already know from your Beocord and the CD player, if not a B&O, will have 2xRCA plugs so a simple adapter RCA/DIN will have to be used. The plastic frame is in 4 pieces from the factory, 2 end pieces and 2 parallel side pieces, so from what you describe they are probably not broken. The end pieces are glued close to the glass' ends then the other two are centered between them. I use speaker cement, it will stick to almost anything, including glass. Make sure not to have any glue
