  • Re: beomaster 5500 locked?

I have tried to make the display show "timer off" instead. I turned it on and off by holding the two pushbottoms in a number of seconds, it is mentioned in the user manual.

  • Re: Beocord 3500 (1988) vu meter

I generally have problems with this on all my beocords. The Beocord 5500, 8004 and my two 9000's do only show a level that is 3-4 dB lower than the recording level, it is quite annoying as the playback level also is reduced compared to original recording levels...

@Earle: That is a very cool room you have there! You might need some older speakers or a complete Beolab 5000 system from the period? I have now integrated my 4400 into the bedroom setup: And my retipped MMC6000 with Shibata stylus has arrived! Rock on!

The ticking noise is when I move the carriage fast, it is not with any regularity but about 3-4 ticks if the carriage is being moved from "park" position to the center and back again if the machine is cold. The spindle was lubricated with acid free oil (sewing machine oil), following descriptions from the Service manual and from here. My two

The arm assembly which is driven forward by the spindle should be tight as a screw with a bolt on, but the tonearm itself should be movable in it's nature. The sensor arm is fastened to the assembly and shouldn't bugde 4.4 in my 4002 service manual is about adjusting the CD4 decoder, looks like your manual is for the older type 5501/2/3?
