I don't think that "latest technology" is at the top of the list of reasons people purchase B&O. Look how long the product life is of most B&O stuff compared to Sony, Pioneer, Technics etc. Many of the products are not cutting edge, rather matured technologies. Aesthetics, brand loyalty and elitism are far more likely to be deciding

Hi Martin I agree about that top knob. I also think that having vertical grilles, as opposed to the 900K's horizontal ones does reinforce the boxiness too.

Hi Dave Yes, it could be something stray wandering about in there. Cooling fins do get warm (of course it is their function) but not as hot as you are describing. Are you driving low impedence speakers, say 2 ohms, at any great volume? Try the upside down test with no speakers - does it still get hot? Sometimes it is a process of going through silly

Jandyt: Try unpluging the speakers and anything else connected and see if it still cuts out. Just a suggestion. Oh, and a very warm welcome to Beoworld. Andy T. Yes, I should have mentioned that too

Hi bkbd It sounds like the overload/short circuit protection built into the amp is tripping. Check for stray "whiskers" of speaker wire between the + and - terminals of all the speaker plugs, at the connections on the speakers if these are clips/screws rather than 2 pin DIN plugs (depending on your speakers) and also at any joins in your wires

Another picture, as for some odd reason I can't attach 2 images to 1 message...

Well, until I can locate the knobs and stereo board I need, I've finished it. Yesterday I took the speaker grilles off and cleaned them, and got rid of almost all the nicotine staining with a light wet and dry, though it is a tricky business to avoid rounding any edges/corners. The cabinet got a teak oiling, and that looks fabulous now. As does

Hi Jeff Yes, turntables don't travel well unless the sender knows what they are doing.. I have broken BG 3000 here that needs the follow sensor in the arm sorting out, whereas my BG1000 came with all the original packaging, and other than running a bit slow (must have a look at that...) it is in timewarp condition. I'll keep looking for an 8002
