I had a BM 6000 that ran very hot - in addition to the heat sinks there was an area on the underside that was extremely hot (the transformer/power supply?). Some of this vintage equipment runs hot - I also have a BM 5000 that even in standby mode could serve as a space heater.

My new BS4 came with a Beo4 remote in the same box - there's even a slot for it in the styrofoam packing. In addition the user manual makes no mention of it being optional equipment. Do we Americans get freebies in addition to low (relatively) prices?

Turn on the phonograph directly instead of using the remote. This will automatically turn on the receiver and set it to phono input. What happens?

Mark, glad to hear the highs are clear! With regard to #1, yes, this is normal. It's the anti-skating force that causes the tone arm to slide laterally. I suspect that on your turntable this force is applied automatically, as opposed to a manual adjustment. If it is manual, the adjustment would be on the bottom of the turntable. Still, you should

You need to re-calibrate the tracking force. Here's how: Play a record and while playing it unplug the turntable. Adjust the tracking force until the

Try unplugging your 9300 for a while. It's analogous to rebooting your computer - sometimes problems go away this way. How far away are you from your nearest B&O dealer? If you're close bring your 9300 to them to test with their remote. I notice we're in the same time zone. If you wish to pay for round trip shipping/insurance I'll

Two things I'd check first: #1 - Make sure the tracking force is set correctly. I believe the MMC20EN tracks at 1.2 g. Number 2: Clean the needle - it could have 20+ years of crud caked on it. Since you probably don't have a professional stylus cleaning brush/cleaner, the next best thing is a Q-Tip (cotton bud) dampened (but not wet) with methyl
