You can't upgrade a TV to the new 'mk' version simply by swapping the panel - the whole point in the change from a mkIII to a mkIV is changes to the chassis.

You talk of creating a Phantom Centre, this is something I'm hoping AST will be able to do, and that includes for off-axis listening (although you wouldn't be able to have more than one listening position at a time in theory).

I would certainly not want BeoLabs outside, no matter how dry your climate seems. B&W makes weatherproof speakers, which are very good indeed. The BeoLink Passive (amplifier) which powers them would sit somewhere indoors, and the link-eye would sit in a weatherproof box out with the speakers...

They weren't truly 'flat' speakers in the sense of the Quad ESLs. The B&O flat speakers were just very, very well designed conventional loudspeakers which were a different shape.

Yes, they will go into standby after 2 (or 3?) minutes of relative silence from the source as long as they're set to Line mode...

They wouldn't even need to license it from Quad - anybody can make an electromagnetic inducer. The problem is the area of the driver would need to be so large - you would need a frankly massive TV...

Oooh well a good replacement for the BeoCenter 1 would be nice. Most people here in Bath don't want a 40" TV + separate DVD player + radio (DVB radio is a little fidgety for a lot of people).
