I'm slightly sceptical as most of them would have been jandty and Alex

OK, I'll stop sniping We all know how pretty the Mac range is and how well the operating system works. My (tongue in cheek) point was while everyone loves to knock Microsoft (esp here in Beoworld) for all its various faults (and I'm not advocating windows by any means) they are willing to completely overlook issues with their Apple kit/software
-
So they're great if you only run Apple software on your Apple computer - cool
-
Peter: Actually the reason it often doesn't work is because people use third party software that stops it from working the way it should! After the stories on the web, I was going to do an archive and Install, but pressed the wrong button so did an Upgrade and it seems to be just fine! Fancy owning an Apple computer, with an Apple operating system

Alex: soundproof: Thousands of people had their Mail stop working with 10.2! My daughter is the guinea pig when it comes to Leopard in our household, and she's not happy. The MacBook keeps having trouble with the Airport, and we had to do some surgery using the Terminal. Lots of complaints over at Support>Discussions>Leopard>Network connectivity

Lets all hope Prizedrawbot has serviced and tuned Lisa verse for tonight as they are likely to get a battering (and that's just from me mate jandyt) Damn this spell checker - I meant Lee's Servers!
-
Peter: Actually the pin is +ve and the blade -ve on a DIN plug. The muting circuit works on Speaker 1 and the contacts can corrode with time so using Speaker 2 can sometimes help. Two other points: 1. The 7000 may need servicing - this will be 10 years+ old and is likely to be out of spec. Mine certainly dulled a bit. 2. I know I am bleating on again

I know you're right! - I know we had a 5000 forum on the old site and it wasn't that frequently visited. It was def a good move to have a Beo5 forum so that those that don't have/need/want one needn't have the general forum cluttered up with newfangled (nearly an anagram) posters and maybe that is a different answer - filter forums by

Maybe the way foward is ......... Vintage 5000 series (5500, 6500, 7000) Overture series in line series (2000, 3500. 4500 series Music centre (if you will) series (8000, 9300, 9500 etc) .......... or similar related models. Not wanting to fragment too much but obviously the 5000 crowd and the 8000 crowd and the Overture crowd share similar interests

Nope - pardon me for being a thicky! I can't see where to vote either!
