• Re: Just got a Beomaster 900K, well, not exactly...

That is interesting! I had never heard of this collaboration. The cabinet is different as well, everything on the actual chassis seems the same (except for the things you mention). That empty Noval socket indeed means you don't have the stereo decoder (the plug contains some components to take care of FM de-emphasis, otherwise done in the decoder

  • Re: BeoWorld and B&O..

Personally I would have no problems with that, quite the opposite. One thing that would need attention though would be how to keep the distinction between Beoworld and B&O clear - even now, every once in a while, we seem to get an odd new poster who apparently thinks Beoworld is officially affiliated with the company. Technically, I'm for static

  • Re: Basic IR extender question

I believe the Virgin box (not that I'd ever even seen one) would work with a generic extender using its own remote. A Beo4 can't control it anyway without additional hardware like something from IRtrans or Lintronic, so the usage would be the same as if you had the box located somewhere visible - you'll still need the Virgin remote for changing

  • Re: Avant 16:9 on TV?
I have a few Avants and they all seem to show the same strange behaviour. They all select 16:9 (as WSS detection is set to on) when watching Virgin or DVD's, yet when watching normal analogue TV through their in built tuners they will never select full 16:9! I'm pretty sure that at least some programs are broadcast

  • Re: B&O website
Well, right now the B&O Website seems to be really slow to me. It takes almost 60 seconds to load the main page. Normally the page loads in several seconds. Semms like there ist some work going on in the background.
They probably have teamed up with Intel, AMD and the memory manufacturers to create

  • Re: Beomaster 7000 running hot

Thanks! I actually tried to load the amp more by connecting another pair of speakers (S80.2) and ran it at vol 40. The problem(?) definitely seems to be in the power amp side - that end of the cooling fin got hot enough that I had to take my fingers off of it after a while. This seems abnormal although the amp sounded fine and never shut off. I'll

  • Re: Is it possible to remove and clean the outer glass on a LX5000 TV?

Yes it's possible - and it can indeed collect dirt inside which will ruin the picture, especially if the TV comes from a smoking household. First, you need to remove the speaker frets. They will just pull off, but be careful not to bend them too much - start from the lower end, the next two pegs are in the middle and two more at the top. Then, at

  • Re: Using an IR repeater
My question was whether the B&O IR receiver is limited to detecting only B&O IR signals.
I'm pretty sure it is - they never were designed to do anything else, and the carrier frequency difference makes certain that it won't work by accident, either (unless somebody else uses 455 kHz as well

  • Re: Why are some people on the sub-forums but not on the main forum?

In all honesty I can't see how the general forum is "stale"? I have to advance to the second page to find the first topics that don't have any posts within 24 hours, and only find a few that might have a better choice for a subforum.

  • Beomaster 7000 running hot

I have already replaced the idle current trimpots and reset them correctly (and yes, those controversial silly power stage caps are still there ). Still I feel this amp is running hotter than it should be, at least compared to my BM6500. With the covers on, after it has been playing radio a while at volume 30 into passive Pentas, the cooling fins are
