Welcome to Beoworld and thanks for signing up as a silver member, your support is greatly appreciated ! I've developed my own techniques for repairing the original displays and it's not an easy task but please keep us informed as you progress. Martin

Cracked solders at the frontmost edge of the tuner board where (I think 4) metal loops take the signals to the switchbank board. Alternatively, the switches themselves. EDIT: It's true that capacitors cause many problems, a kit is available and it's recommended to replace the lot, though in this particular case, there are not really many electrolytic

There can be several reasons for a weak channel. I would concentrate on the two large capacitors on the main board first. Then the balance and volume potentiometers and/or sound source switches. I have suitable lamps in stock, also for the MPX (stereo) indicator if you can't find any locally. Martin

Hej og velkommen til Beoworld ! Er du sikker på, at laseren er defekt ? I de fleste tilfælde skyldes læse-fejl noget andet, som regel kondensatorer på servo-board'et. Martin

I'm sure you will find the damper have emptied its contents out into the machine. It's not a disaster, normally you can just leave it there, but it will do so again if you refill it. A new type of dampers, better sealed, were available once but that was long ago, I'm afraid. Martin

Yes. Not the best quality but this is what I have at present and I think it'll do. If those two resistors are gone, the two transistors are probably toasted too. Martin

Welcome to Beoworld ! The turn button will start the platter rotation but do nothing more. It's practical for cleaning records. Check the tracking force adjustment, set it according to the user manual and the type of cartridge. Martin

Sounds like the opto is gone. I have a few new ones in stock. The switch merely tells the direction, it doesn't give pulses. The opto produces the pulses that counts the volume up or down. Activating the switch in either direction, however, should light up the MCP without changing the volume setting, if this happens the switch is OK. Martin

So, this thread went completely OT ? Is the black center tap moved easily up and down with a weak spring effect to hold it up with no record on the platter ? Martin

I agree with Chris. Also, having two units with the exact same (non-standard) fault sounds strange, though of course not impossible, I suppose. Martin
