Again, it has been some time. Work on the Beolit 39 project has progressed only slowly but has not in any way halted. It turns out, I live in an area with only limited AM reception. Martin, the Beomasters 1000 and 1001 are completely different machines. I am not sure if there are any tantals in any of the Beomaster 1000 versions at all. I agree on the styroflex caps. They, and the mustard coloured 1950's types are about the only types of capacitors I actually like to dismount and keep from scrapped sets. They are superb components

Check also the fuses in the supply to the amplifiers. The holders oxidize and a fuse can be blown. Martin

Drained lithium battery in the Beomaster. Replace the battery and put in new settings. Note that first time powered up after mounting the new battery, you don't know what the settings are. You can risk a high initial volume setting. I like to power up on tape or aux with nothing playing there the first time and then change the settings. Martin

OK. I am aware that some Beomaster's (like f.e. the 80's Beomaster 3000) were available in AM versions in certain markets but I never heard of AM in a BM8000. Lovely machine BTW. I have one in daily use myself. Martin
