I just received my new SMMC4 - had a mule smuggle it over the pond so I saved the import duties - and installed it on my BG6500. I realized I have probably never listened to any of these decks with a good cartridge! The old MMC2 probably was faulty even before the suspension obviously let go. My Sarah McLachlan hasn't sounded this good since my

The problem with these '80s and older TVs is that television/video has advanced a lot since they were new. Nowadays mono audio and a small screen mean that they can't be enjoyed that much, even though the picture might still be technically great (most programming is widescreen nowadays, and a 21-26" 4:3 can really be too small even if it

I have Beolab+Beomaster 5000, but somehow they seem more like museum pieces to me instead of design artifacts (they might grow on me though, I've only had them for a month or so). Of the rest of the kit around here, I'd have to pick either the Beogram 6000 or the Beomaster 2000 type 2801 , which I just love even though the sliders are a bit

No - although the IR commands are semantically similar, they have different addresses when a MCP is talking with a supported master vs. 9500 and similar systems. A bit silly really, since there's no technical reason why at least the basic functions could not be operated, it's all in the software....

Umm... why wouldn't one have the battery cover? (apparently I didn't lose mine in the vacuum cleaner though )

I'm pretty happy with mine - I keep it on my desk and quite often check which radio station is playing, what the time is, and so on... I can't even see the front panels of the actual BS6500 from where I sit most of the time so it's quite useful, even though I have a BL7000 as well, which mostly sits as a display item. I shelled out more

I'm pretty much torn (pardon the pun) with what to do with my CX's as well. The white CX50s will definitely need new frets (the old, sticky surrounds had stuck on them and show through to the front!). I'd perhaps like something else than pure white, but can't think of any other colour that would work, except black of course. And the

You can pay all you want for various "high-end" caps, but I never was a believer in that magic... I used basic Intertechnik/Audyn MKT caps and I think the final parts list for my passive Pentas was a little over 100 euros. You can get by much cheaper with regular bipolar electrolytics (like the originals) but then you'll need to do it

Ouch. I usually get bored on TV in less time than it took for that one to come up!

[quote user="nmartin771"] I already decided to get CX50, and I will not change my decision, I will add 2200 as well can you imagine "darling one more pair of speakers are coming" " (*&^%%$#%&&*%#@$# Y%$#@$% ^%$#@@! " " But it is.... " " &*&^%%$$%^&%^$#$%^&**&^$ " "B
