The problem with recommending speakers is that it is very subjective. To me, CX100's sound like the sound is struggling to get out of the box whereas RL's are more open and in your face. The same with penta vs Beolab 5000's. It just me and my ears! My experience with CX 100's and 50's has meant that I now don't sell them unless

Sounds like the beogram has it's transport screws tightened up. Look underneath the deck, three screws are identified which should be loosened all the way out until they are loose. The platter should now have a distinct springy feel to it. If not then it can be adjusted via 3 screws on the suspension springs. Fiddly job but not too technical. Well

Can I inject an element of realism into this discussion. The chances of finding a pair of CX100, beovox penta or S80 without foam rot are slim indeed. Be aware! The amp in the beocenter 8000 is the same as that fitted in the rest of the series, It will need a full head of steam to get reasonable noise levels from beovox penta but not everybody wants

I was going to give you some instructions for changing the electronics over but you seem to have managed it on your own! Replacing the mains cable is not too difficult if you can use a soldering iron.

Courage Mobe, courage! Do you just have a new smoked plastic cover or do you have a new complete moulding with aluminium sqare?

One screw under the lift up flap and slide the grille to the right.

Under the front lip of the unit, in the vicinity of the door is a hole. You can use a screwdriver through the hole to manually drive the door through it's sequence from closed to open and back again to closed. There is a diagram in the service manual together with full details on how to open the machine for service. The service manual is available

Most of the CD problems are associated with 9000's because of their age but you must remember that 8000,8500,9500 and earlier 9300 all had the same or similar servo pcb and the same problem will occur with them in time. Easy fix though, once you know how.
