• Re: Caring for your cartridge: any advice?

The important thing is to keep the stylus and the records clean. A good brush is needed. You cannot lubricate the suspension as all that will likely do is weaken the glue and cause catastrophic failure. I would get on and use your 4000 - it is going to be 30 years old and the suspension could well be getting past it already!

  • Re: Pristine Bang& Olufsen Beocenter 2000 with B& O stand and S-30 speakers

Couldn't agree more with all advice given. The most valuable bit of the 2000 is the cartridge which is a MMC20S and if perfect should be about £30. The centre to get these days is the 7700 or similar. It will need new belts for the cassette and it will need a little TLC as said above, but it will outperform any new music centre. The 2000 was

Couple of pointa - you cannot really hear above about 15kHz
Okay, then why BC 9000 and other Beo Audio equipments have wider frequencies than humans can hear? Because they could! And because it sells stuff to audiophiles! I am getting older but hearing above 13kHz is now impossible

  • Re: Beocord 9000 vs. CD..........

Couple of pointa - you cannot really hear above about 15kHz - there are sites where you can test yourself - and the S/N ratio will be inferior to CD. The figures you are looking at also will be difficult to reproduce and a copy cannot be any better than the original so you will need to find a source to get to 22kHz. So CD is out, as is FM radio and

  • Re: Beocenter 5000 help

Common problems with units of this age. The turntable return will probably just be the automatic mechanism, which is mechanical, and I wouldn't worry. The spring for the lids are both relatively simple and are a simple torsion wire. Check it has been put together properly - you may need a donor unit - they are a fair number of these around for next

  • Re: MP3 player issue

It is true. Most MP3 players have a variable output and if not put to full voulme, the sound will be low. Some however have a special setting in the set up menu - the Sony ATRAC player has a full line output you can select. I would look at the MP3 player more than the 2500 - try another known line source if you are convinced it is the 2500. How are

  • Re: NEW TO B&O PURCHASED BEOMASTER 6500... NEED HELP!

The Beomaster 6500 service manual you see for sale on eBay was 'taken' from here - I shall refrain from any other word. If you join as a silver member you will find that manual as well as all the user manuals for the 6500 system. Whether this is sensible depends on how good you are at electronics and the equipment you have. The 6500 is a good

  • Re: Beogram 8002 & Beogram CD X - General question

The metal panel attaches via a black hinge which always seems rather insubstantial. However it will stay open at its height and gradually closes when lowered. I use epoxy to permanently attach the lid. The platter surround has a similar failing.

Oops! Just gave someone a pair! Why not have some made? They are just a square base with a pillar and a T bar.
