I think that your point of view is largely a function of your age and the habits you developed as a result. I listen to vastly more music and of a much greater variety thanks to the iPod and other digital innovations like Pandora. My BeoSound 5 has rekindled my home listening as well, which had dwindled to just about zero except for a few radio programs

I would rate my own customer service as excellent! Are you sure that you're submitting it to the correct e-mail address? Does your e-mail have some characteristic that might get it trapped in a spam filter? Both have happened on occasion in my shop.

The dock connector is taking the digital signal directly from a different set of pins and using the internal DAC. The aux input is analog in so the Airport Express is being input differently. You'll get the best result from direct docking. If you want to get the best quality from your collection though, you might look into a BeoSound 5.
