  • Re: Ice power not quite there yet.

I wish to withdraw my previous comments about blaming Icepower that it gives me a ear ache listening to its high frequency performance. Turns out, it is only when Icepower is paired when a loudspeaker with metal dome tweeters that gives me the problem I mentioned. Which totally makes sense since metal domes break up heavily in the very high frequencies

Hello Soundproof. I was in a shop floor/listening room. There were very little speakers on display and it was just a pair of the Thiels in front of a damped wall. I didn't really do considerable listening to the installation though I can be certain that it was very disappointing. The electronics were all Bel Cantos with necessary power conditioning

  • Ice power not quite there yet.

So I was shopping around for the DAC 3 from Bel Canto after reading how excellent it was on Stereophile magazine. I was at the showroom that displayed Bel Canto front ends paired with Thiel CS3.7 flagship loudspeakers. And to my amazement, the top end sounded very hard, harder than the Beolab 9s. The overall presentation was quite coherent, neutral

  • Re: Bang & Olufsen Cuts Profit Outlook (Update)

I think there are reasons for the price increase for B&O products throughout the years and that is to provide the same level of exclusivity and service they had before. It is the same thing for many luxury brands, their prices have not stopped increasing during recent years. The biggest problem I think for B&O is that they have not been making

In a reply to what Soundproof said about some people in the segment think that B&O not luxurious enough, I for one concur with that. B&O just seem like a very good arthouse brand but not a luxury brand as compared to brands like Mark Levinson and Wilson Benesch. For the price, B&O should offer a lot more refinement, consumers are very educated

  • Re: Beosound 3 specs: Is B&O "lying" on its website about technical specs?

Ermm.... 2 to 3% of distortion is perfectly normal, especially in the bass region. You really have to know the frequency as which the distortion is stated. Usually, larger surface area of the bass driver, the less the distortion and vice versa for treble. And of course, the BeoLab 6000 has a high level of distortion in the bass but doesn't it look

  • Re: I broke the BS2

Let's face it everyone. BS2 do longer have the best sound quality. Try using a quality pair of high sensitivity headphones and you will see what I mean. It has a higher noise level that an Ipod. However, the amp in BS2 is indeed powerful.

  • Re: The Futurist: Why You Should Buy Middle-End Products

I think it is not the sound of the supertweeter that matters but the reduction in breakup modes in the tweeter during the production of high frequencies. In the case of a seperate supertweeter, I think it filters off the distortion inducing super high frequencies from the normal tweeters.

Oh my! Why would anyone even listen to Bose? They have the worst stuff ever. Way overpriced and just plain ripping off the public. Bose boast about their technical innovations but they are nothing more than simple physics. B&O excels in terms of being fateful to the input signal in almost all of their speakers, Bose is infamous for the lower midrange

  • Re: Here it is - Picture of a new Serenata

Something tells me that B&O is trying to tear itself away from the sleek and pretentious to something more fun and cheerful. This phone definitely bears a resemblance to a kid's toy and yet looks too well crafted for that purpose. Very futurists in a way, everything is constucted ergonomically. Created more for a family guy rather than a bachelor
