You'll need an IR-blaster cable (often called PUC controller cables). Minijack plug on one end, and a tiny little dark maroon IR-blaster on the other end with an adhesive face to stick to the front of the Apple TV. The TV will probably need a PUC table to be created too (done with the service tool mkII). To see if it does, tell the TV the aTV is

I'm not sure if they even can, but if they could, it'd require a complete rebuild & chassis swap which would be very, very costly (in comparison to the difference between selling the PC speakers and buying the full versions). The other omission is the position switch, which I found to be sonically massively advantageous when using mine.

Sounds like the voice coil has gone off alignment. I've never heard of any problems with damaged cones in BeoLab 5s. I'm almost certain it'll need to go back to B&O to be properly re-calibrated though. It's not like some of the other BeoLabs where you just turn a little pot - all digital here!

Actually you can use a standard 5-pin DIN to RCA cable to connect any active speaker using the Left/Right IN connections to connect to the speakers. I personally would look for BeoLab 4000s though - fantastic speakers...

It's worth noting that more dynamic recordings almost always sound duller/quieter, as they're quieter 'overall' (referred to as the dBFS rating). In order to compare them fairly to their compressed counterparts, you should turn the volume up on your system, although by how much depends entirely on the level of compression (which is why

Correct, there's nothing B&O can really do, it's down to the broadcast signal.

The clue as to the problem may be the part about watching 'an old film on living', it would suggest it's a broadcast or sky-box issue, and not a TV issue. The TV doesn't know the difference between two different movies, it just receives a digital video stream from the Sky box, processes it and displays it.

As you say, I believe the moving mass of a BeoLab 5 subwoofer cone is 60 kg, which is far more than a BeoLab 2 is capable of. The BeoLab 2 can produce some pretty thunderous bass, but the BeoLab 5s far outshine it - in fact the BeoLab 5 low-end far outshines anything else I've ever heard on the market.
