I'm going to try to fix her myself. Opening up a Beocord will be a first for me.

Thought someone with more experience would answer, but since nobody has: my 4002 has virtually no side to side play that I noticed in the 20 or so times that I took out the platter while working on the deck.

Two questions: Is the tonearm of the 5000 the same as the RX 2? Are you in the States? I bought an RX 2 tonearm a month or so ago. I was going to use it for something of an art project with my kids, but would consider selling it to someone who wants to restore an otherwise working table.

I do not have personal experience with the BG6500. Two thoughts anyway: You should be able to get it fixed by a pro for no more than $200, regardless of what's wrong with it. The real question is whether it's cosmetically near perfect. If the MMC2 works still and has the low mileage on it the seller says, the cartridge alone should fetch between

On the other hand, the "fix" can be "unfixed" then someone with SKILLZ may get a bargain and do a proper refurb. At least they didn't part it out.

We are now into Week 2 of "Dude, Where's My BC1900?", and still no BC1900. I should have it Monday, though. The rewiring of the mic was not a success last night - I will try again when the new male plug I ordered comes in.
