I think you need a minimum of 5 conductors for each speaker if you were going to make up some cables Left or right signal, signal ground, 5v to switch on, 0v, digital signal and possibly one other. I assume that beotech is down so can't check this. Any way, I'm fairly sure you can't do it with 4.

Mk2 powerlink are slightly thicker than the others and the plugs are "fully wired". ie All the pins are connected. In this way you will get the displays on the pentas working.

If they are Penta II's or III's then you need Mk2 powerlink cables. Speakerlink cables will not plug into the Ouverture.

The sliders are attached to the wire with clamps (2 screws in each). Bit fiddly but simple enough. Most difficult part is getting the wire/string back in the clamps. The original screws are cross head and the new ones are Torx. The bottom electronic pack can be removed as one lump. It just swings out of the way to allow access to the bottom slider assembly

I have a new motor and cogs in my hand now and on close inspection there is the minimum amount of grease on the teeth such that you hardly notice. From memory, the kit of new slider mechanisms, which includes a new motor was around £40. I have fitted several, bit fiddly but not technically demanding. Part of the process involves re-aligning the
