Check the spring function of the part of the right tape spindle that grips into the tape reel. The triangular part should move freely up and down the spindle with a spring function to keep it up. It has rounded corners to assist it in locating a correct position for gripping into the tape reel as it rotates. The left one is obviously working so compare

Does both reels rotate when it tries to play ? Is the belt for the motion sensor mounted correctly (the small belt on top of the deck), running from the right reel table to the motion sensor wheel ? Martin

You can skip the RIAA stage by moving a wire or two inside, which will make the phono socket a line-level input. The same can be done in all Beomasters but will require a technical surgery of some kind. It will, however, leave you with two tape inputs rather than two phono inputs. There's not two RIAA stages in either Beomaster. Martin
