just a quick add... it not only allowed the use of passives (as other kit did) but most importantly -it allowed independent control of volume, audio settings, etc... the others did not as i understand.

that is an mcl2p -amp for controlling passives in an mcl link room w/ an mcl2a or av. if you mean the speaker sockets? they are just that -the sockets for the passives you wish to use. they will accept typical (2) prong blade/pin male connectors or the (3) prong (i believe "speaker link") male connectors.

the halves are bonded -likely w/ a plastic-weld adhesive. they are not intended to be split. of course, as yours is a complete loss -try razoring around the perimeter until they split. if you can replace the cord, then try "tenax" or similar to rebond. oh, and take a pic of the inside! i am sure we would all like to see the guts while one
