An awful lot depends on condition but these have reached £375 with 5 days to go. Lab 3000 on eBay. They are very sought after speakers and as these are in mint condition I could easily see them going for £700 or more, but a pair in tatty condition could easily fetch much less. Simon

Congratulations! You may now find yourself bidding on all kinds of B&O stuff you didn't previously know you wanted. This is perfectly normal and is due to something we call the Beovirus! Simon
Probably of winning in one draw =1/550 Probability of not winning in one draw = 1 - 1/550 = 549/550 Probability of not winning any prizes in 120 draws (a year) = (549/550)^120 = 0.8 Probability of winning more than zero prizes in a year = 1 - Probability of not winning any prizes in 120 draws (a year) = 1 - 0.8 = 0.2
So..it is actually possible to win the top prize more than Once in a year? What are the odds on a single individual doing that?
Approximately a 0.02% chance. Simon

...the chances of winning a prize in any one year are around 19.6% Moral of the story: Never argue with a Statistician! Simon
So basically, what one needs to do is sign up, then get another four friends and relatives to sign up, then you are guaranteed a prize. Sorted!

The budget you have will buy you a fine pair of speakers, and ultimately finding a system you are happy with is the main thing. Don't overspend on the speaker cable though. As long as you have a resonable-quality OFC cable there is not a shred of evidence that spending any more will make any difference! Simon
Is it really this difficult? - If I throw a dice then the chance of my number coming up is 1/6. If I throw it twice then chance of my number coming up in any of the throws is 1/6 + 1/6 = 2/6 = 1/3. If I throw it six times then the theoretical probability of one of the six attempts being my number is 6/6 i.e 1. The probabilities

John You are repeatedly asnswering a different question! The question you are answering is which is what is the probability on a single draw (i.e. one event) of winning a prize. (Random benoulli trials as the textbooks call them). After this event has been repeated 120 times with a population of 550 people who all have an equal chance of winning you

THESE will fit the bill very nicely. I wouldn't normally advise buying these having had the original drivers replaced but at £40 they're a real bargain. Chris.
Nothing wrong with replacement Peerless drivers - I can vouch for the ones I have in my MC120.2s
And with reference to the other thread, I hate Redline speakers! Have had several pairs and given them all away! Not my thing at all! Compare Redlines with some of the Uniphase speakers - S120, MS150 etc and you suddenly hear what the RLs just don't have. Again confused and muddy bass and the positioning of the tweeter
