  • Re: Does vintage B&O sound better?

I must confess that I thought it was mythical for a while. Tim and I actually dismantled a 4400 with the idea that it be anodised in black - we had visions of giving it to B&O for their museum to see if we could get a fake piece in. However Frede found a real one just as I had finished pulling the 4400 apart! He then found another which he is kindly

He would take it on I expect, but he prefers equipment brought and collected rather than posted. Cosmetic problems are very hard to remedy though. It is always best to start with a mint looking but not working device than a working scruffy one. I should be getting my 4401 in July by the way! I can probably drop the 4400 off with Lee for pick up at that

  • Re: RIAA Amp for BM 7000

Not that this is much help. but I believe there was a board that could be fitted to the BM7000 for just this purpose - I cannot imagine that one will be available now. One of the reasons B&O removed the RIAA was to allow the Beogram to be sited further away from the Beomaster. By fitting the RIAA in the Beogram, a stronger signal was sent and a

[quote user="Cleviebaby"] A quick visit to Martin’s (Dillen) comments in various posts on problems with BM2200s and the other 2200 derivative , the BC3300, made me realise I may have bitten off more than I can chew. If only the blasted thing didn’t sound so good and wasn’t quite so rare I wouldn’t care, but I want it

  • Re: Who really designed the Beolab 5000/Beomaster 5000?

Lewis' site is not that well researched - he also has the Beolink 7000 labelled as a 1000. I am sure that most designs are a collaboration but Jensen as head designer should take the credit for the 5000. He will have signed it off and it was his studio.

Top fettling means doing an excellent job of modifying one product to take on the role of another - and I agree - excellent job. All you have to do is remember the car!

  • Re: VX 7000 sensor

Hen's teeth - but you can modify a MCL eye. I believe it needs hard wiring into the VX7000 so you will need to know what you are doing.

  • Re: On-Line Pre-Owned B&O Dealers

I think it a bit difficult to generalise about any dealer as all will have customers who are very happy and all will have a very few who are not. It is the nature of business that you cannot please all the people all the time even if you really try. All the above companies will have a majority of satisfied customers and have to offer value for money

  • Re: Bedroom setup advice needed.

They are both excellent - the AV5 does have a rear facing sub woofer though. The AV5 is a bit odd though - no video source ! And 4:3 aspect. I would get the Avant unless the AV5 is cheap!

  • Re: Does vintage B&O sound better?

Agree completely about the BM1200 - sounds very odd through S45s but with BV1200s, it is remarkably good. The Beolab 5000 amplifier is also wonderful I agree. A bit more exciting to listen to than some of the others, I would guess it has a bit of a peak at the top end but is, as Casdave says, dynamic and simply pleasurable to listen to. Also completely
