This is fixable but not easy. Involves removing the back followed by the complete electronic pack and adjust the door sliders on the strings. Bit of a fiddly job but costs nothing. If it's only 3mm my advice is to live with it!

The B&O warranty runs from the date of original sale and will transfer to the new owner. B&O dealers should honour this warranty despite the intervention of the non B&O seller and the dealer who does any repairs will be re-imbursed by B&O for any warranty work required. What it won't cover is installation, which will be the responsibility

I've never known of an actual laser go faulty on any of these systems, it has always been another component associated with the CD mechanism and so far all bar one have been fixable by me personally. I did have one cd unit that I couldn't fix but it was a useful donor and I skipped the rest of it. You would indeed be unlucky to buy one that

The one that I once owned was much more substantial than this version as it was made from good quality sheet steel and required the removal of 3 screws form the front of the beocenter to attach it in situ. A real nightmare to do by myself as the beocenters are

Could be broken connection within the plug. Can you dismantle it and check the solders? Other than communication, is the sound level from the deck OK? You could be plugged into AUX or TAPE2 instead of PHONO!

Welcome to Beoworld, enjoy! I have bought and sold many pairs of 8000's of varying ages and my experience is that they are supremely reliable. I have had one speaker with a faulty switch on relay and one speaker with a blown tweeter. My main concern when buying is cosmetic. I have replaced several tweeters in 6000's which seem to be more vulnerable

Peter: Just gave away a pair of 5000s!!! Now , I know that's true Peter but I believe that you should also state your reasons for doing so! By the way, what happened to the dented ones, I may be interested!
