I just repaired a Beomaster 5500 with various problems, and it is now playing nicely. However, I had to temporarily disconnect the backup battery to clear some unknown timers. Then it of course asks me to set the clock, which I did, but each time I turn it on, it says "SET CLOCK" on the MCP. Is there some trick related to this? The radio presets

Great you got it working! That's not a bad price for a module of that complexity, I'd probably gone that route myself. The schematic shows regular bulbs in there, four in parallel. So if only one is out, it has probably burned or has a bad contact. I have to admit I've never even seen an Ouverture in the flesh, so I can't advice you

Apparently they are trying to circumvent the HDCP compliance requirement of "no easy end-user access to decoded analogue video" by making it a dongle. I can't see how that could legally stand up, because all you would need to make all the (analogue) HD copies you might want, is a cable adapter. Technically the concept itself seems plausible

I have some records that are more or less warped. Tracking problems aside, now that I only have B&O turntables I can't really play them since all the decks seem to have very little clearance under the tone arm by design. I used to try and do something about warped records when I was a wee kid and being mostly successful as well, but can't

I believe this means how much of the side of the platter you should see above... ummh... the part of the deck that doesn't rotate I never bothered to measure, just adjusted the platter level, and high enough that nothing scrapes. Had to do this in both of the this series decks that I have - I guess the springs sag with time.

Certainly, but I thought about this guy who doesn't have any of the cabling, but wants to build them himself. All I'm saying is that the pins 3 & 4 in the pyramid connector will ultimately need to connect to the middle pins in the wall socket (or socket adapter) in mainland Europe (and US), or there will be no phone line connection...

And as noted above, in mainland Europe (and US) the phone line uses pins 3 & 4 (i.e the two middle pins, as the connector may actually have four or even eight pins depending on the adapter - in Europe, the wall socket varies by country).
