I've heard the brand name mispronounced as "Bang and Awfulson". Do they know something we don't?

The power adaptor is required to both charge the handset and power the base station. Without it you will not get it to work at all. Opman

Hi applemac While you are round the back of the Avant checking out your sockets, make a note of the serial number. If it turns out that you don't have Set Top Box controller fitted, the serial number will indicate if it is possible to have STBc retro fitted. As a general guide serial numbers below 128xxxxx cannot have STBc fitted. Hope you girl

Check how the cables are plugged into the t adaptor, it's easy to get them the wrong way around. The lead from the base/charger should plug into the adaptor socket marked "App", then the "power" and "line" leads are obvious. Another check is to switch off the handset completely, then sit it on the base. It should switch

I have an Avant VCR and even though the VCR is integrated, it has an external scart lead. Does your DVD Avant have a scart lead at the back that may have come loose? Just try pushing it to make sure it's firmly in place. I'm clutching at straws for you. Opman

I don't work in an IT call centre, honest! but have you tried powering off the Avant for a few minutes? What have you got to loose? Hope it works :-) Opman

When the BeoLab8000's switch out of stand-by the lights should turn from red to green. I beleive that if they are yellow/amber it indicates a fault in the speaker. I am not technical enough to suggest what the fault may be. You could try switching the power off for an hour and try them again to see if they have re-set. I had a problem with a pair
