Great restoration! Your pleasure is just beginning! Now, let those S45's play, and "see if you can hear" the difference after about another 200 hours, after the caps break in. Menahem

Hi While I'm very familiar with all the old-style CD units - pre-7000 series, which have the Philips CDM2 or CDM4, I have never had a 3200 come into my lab. Can someone who knows this unit technically tell me exactly which CD transport is in the 3200? If it's a Philips CDM or Sony KSS, I can probably give some help here. Regards Menahem

Thanks Derek! Excellent info! Menahem

Geoff, Some very valid points - obviously not all the possible defects can be covered in my write-ups, simply because I haven't seen all of them. But it's a good place to start. After covering the basic areas I described, a troubleshooter would have developed a reasonable perception of how the BeoGram functions, and assuming he has reasonable

The round-pin is the 75-ohm coaxial PAL connector. This is for use if you need to bring in weaker signals using an externally-mounted antenna on your roof, or on a pole. The coaxial shield is grounded, and this helps prevent interference from Airconditioners, fluorescents, etc. The 2 rectangular pins (300-600ohm) are a proprietary B&O connector

I'll limit my input to what I've worked on and know well: 1. The BM5000 - definitely replace the bias trimpots, if nothing else - that will help prevent catastrophical problems in the future. And adjust the bias currents. If you're feeling adventurous, browse this - it may give you incentive to get started! http://www.condoraudio.com/wp

Congrats to all of you, and especially (as expected) to Mika and Martin! Both of you have assisted me in your own generous ways over the years, and it is much appreciated! Menahem

Looks beautiful - I'll be following this thread with great interest. You know we are very lucky - think of all those poor sods who hate B&O and get their kicks from drooling over microscopically small Chinese SMD components in yoo-hoo-bla-bla Digital wonderpieces. Menahem

I have just modded a BM2400-2 with LED's on all the RED lights (except for the 2 Volume lights). Not a simple job, in fact a lot of research in redesigning the circuit, but the results are very good. Actually the Phono, Tape and P1-5 lights were originally designed to work with LED's, according to the datasheet of the SAS570S driver. B&O

Hey Eugene, You did a great job just gluing that output BDV back together. Looks very much like the BM5000 I had in here a few months ago(without the burn marks). If you're feeling adventurous, (on both channels, of course) - substitute 2SC5171's for the BF857's (TR208), and 2SC1845's (hFe matched) for the drivers (TR201 TR202) - lovely
