I posted a thread about one of the earphones on my A8's not working. I was told to check the wires as that is most commonly the problem. It turns out that the actual earphone is dead. Does that mean the end of these A8's? Can one buy the interior speaker? Thanks Ben

BM 1900 is a timeless design but quite difficult to repair...well maybe I'm just not very good lol!! The first thing is to replace all the electrolyte capacitors, its not optional. From there you can see if any problems remain. Good luck! Nothing nicer than a restoration project!

Peter, I'm not quite ready to try out the Quad effect yet lol!! To be honest I didn't by it for its Quadraphonic capabilities. Glad to hear that I can use the 5700's. Will recap them first and try them out. There was a becord 5000 on Ebay in working order that I was very tempted to buy but I thought I should concentrate on getting the commander
