According to advice given on this thread, it sounds like the microswitch is what I need (or maybe just cleaning as you say) as the MCP doesnt light up on moving

Could anyone point me in the right direction, toward someone with technical ability who could possibly have a go at repairing the rotary volume control dial on a MCP5500. The unit itself is in pretty good shape, and every other function seems to work fine. Shame then that the rotary dial (which is not split or broken like many) is simply not raising
