Quite common. The battery contacts are flimsy and don't maintain their pressure on the batteries. The other problems that you do have are also common. The whole thing is notoriously unreliable in particular they nearly always have pixels missing in the display.

I have 2 vx7000's and neither have any sort of clear perspex dust excluder on the cassette flap. My service manual shows the part number of the cassette flap as 3164915 Hope this helps!

beo4life (my son Brett) on this forum did have a lead and has tried his. Seemed to work ok but our DAB signal is crap out here in the sticks and I've not heard him speak about it lately. What's your problem?

Basically you need to make it yourself with a couple of RCA plugs and a 5 pin din plug plus a couple of lengths of screened cable.

Yes, I sold a BM6500 to a customer who was going to use it to feed a QUAD power amp via powerlink. It was a couple of years ago and as far as I know, all went well.
