Have never had a BC1 but your logic seems good to me. What have you got to lose?

Is it just the magnet or is it the whole assembly? I think there is a tipping assembly which moves when you press the front of the panel under the lid. If the assembly is there, all you need is a small magnet - something like a fridge magnet spings to mind. If the assembly is missing, you need the correct part.

Does the BS3 accept amplified input? The way I would do it is use the Tape 2 output on the BM5500 as a line source - you can attach it via DIN or RCA as both are available.
well actually my home theatre configuration is a Beosystem3 with Beovision 4-50,...5.1(beolab3,7.1.beolab 2)...so it could be useful?
To be completely honest, no. It can work as a rather difficult to use Beolink 1000 but a beo4 or 5 would be far superior. Still a fun thing to have though! And not as useless
-
I agree with Phil - remember that a 2 way remote is actually not very useful with a one way system. I actually don't think the 5000 is actually a very good two way remote either - the 7000 is far superior.

Many thanks to Gunther - service manual for Beo4 and Beolink 1000 now on site.

The illusion it is one big screen is exactly why I like it more than the BV9! Wonderful design! I attach the relevant page from the service manual.

The old ones need a special video card to work them - probably not easy to get to work with a modern PC or Mac. Andy has a couple of these so he can tell you more. To be fair, the screens themselves look good but are not that special. Once you get past the metal casing and glass contrast screen, they are just a Samsung LCD with all the normal pluses
-
A copy of the service manual would be most gratefully received!

The Beolink amplifier is really about 30W RMS so i am not too surprised. You need something with a bit of welly - there are a pair of Beolab 200s on ebay at present or consider a Quad 405.
