  • Re: Beogram 4004 won't stop or lower arm

Most digital cameras (and cell phone cameras) will show IR light as a pale blue shine. This will be a quick way to tell if the LED emits light or not. Same trick can also be used to check if the laser in a CD player is emitting light (never look directly into a laser!). Martin

  • Re: Beomaster 2200 with poor sound quality on phono

Good job on the caps. Now we know that that part is alright. The amount of ripple is no problem. The sawtooth waveform is to be expected and not a problem either. You will have to connect a signal generator to the phono input (or play a test-record on a turntable) and use the scope to find where the signal gets distorted. Martin

  • Re: Beogram 4004 won't stop or lower arm

The Beogram won't allow for lowering of the tonearm if no record is sensed. You cannot force the Beogram to lower the tonearm outside of the record or onto the platter if no record is present (or the sensing is not working), even by using the up and down arrow buttons. I don't have the lamps specs right here. They are sometimes mentioned in

No, that would cause another fault and make the Beogram unable to track (the carriage follow the groove) as the record is played. Martin

Welcome to Beoworld ! Thanks for joining as a silver member, your support is greatly appreciated. Put an oscilloscope to the sensor (receivers) electronic circuit and look for the pulses made by the radial streaks of the platter with no record on it. You should be able to see the pulse train very clearly. There are different versions of the BG4004,

  • Re: Beomaster 6000 with a fault in the power supply

The trimmers were set to match the amplification etc. of the IC's on the other board... If I get this right, you swapped the output stage IC's board with another one and then the trimmer settings were no longer correct. This damaged the amplifier board (and maybe also the IC board). Then you mounted back the original IC board to the amplifier

  • Re: Beomaster 6000 with a fault in the power supply

If you are sure that it's 1.9mV (not 1.9V), then the CD offset is not the problem and with that small amount of DC on the output, there's probably nothing very seriously wrong in that channel. Did you also replace the bipolar 47uF caps ? If not, I suggest you do so. If you don't have them at hand, swap the cap with the one from the other

Great job! Now, check the DC offset. The trimmer, as I understand it, has already been replaced, that's essential. Adjust with no signal (volume at zero), no speakers attached, to minimum DC readout at the speaker output. If the Beomaster keeps shutting down, readjust the trimmer slightly around its center position and find a spot where the Beomaster

  • Re: Capacitors?

If I remember correctly, it's only one single capacitor in each cabinet. But that doesn't mean that a kit isn't available. Martin
