The digital inputs on the mkII 7-40 (and the mkI) can only decode surround sound signals. Standard 2-channel PCM (what the Apple TV spews out) isn't supported.

No. Nothing will solidly/consistently outperform the Pentas at that cost. For Maybe ~$4k (not knowing the exact pricing of good hifi in the USA at present) you'll find something which will consistently sound better, but the Penta is still a very good speaker, even if it does occasionally show it's age with certain recordings. I personally believe SD broadcasts are going to be phased out relatively quickly for the mainstream channels. The bandwidth is rapidly becoming available as SD broadcasts are bottlenecked. That's the thing, the mkIV does correctly decode the signal. SD broadcasts are of such low quality at present through the DVB-T system that I can even see the

RE the HD performance, my experience when comparing the mkIII to the mkIV was that the difference was rather large. The biggest difference for me was the difference in motion (as you would expect). There was no 'juddering' on the mkIV, just the occasional 'fuzzy edge' when something bright whizzes across the screen (like a football)

No. They will produce OLED TVs, but not until the technology becomes useful in any way. At present, OLED is completely useless for TVs.
