Very bright? Neither of my pairs have ever sounded bright to my ears. Quite the opposite, actually. A bit "too mellow" at times, especially the restored pair driven by my Beomaster 4000. Put a bead of two part epoxy all the way around the driver as shown in this M70 cone midrange (phase link) driver.

An unused selector switch screwed into the side of the table. High level sources - PC and BC1900 so far - wired to tape input of BM1900.

The motherboard, CPU, video card, and sound card for this build date back to a build I did in 2005, right after I moved to Florida from Michigan. Made some progress this weekend on the garage Beosystem. Opened up the BC1900, cleaned out the 30 years of dust, and cleaned the tape path. Most everything looked to be in pretty good shape, so I put her back together without doing anything else. I tried six or seven tapes and they all played. And she sounds great. Welcome to Beoworld! Good luck with your project. There are many sources of replacement foam. I've used Woofer Repair for CX50s and S40s, but not M70s. My two pairs of M70s both have rubber surrounds on the woofers. Where are you located? Whether you're in the US, Europe, or elsewhere, will probably determine where you will source your repair
