On my pS3 there is also the 24fps cinema mode and i hate it, it looks fake. Once I disabled, it worked a treat. But if your tele also has a special mode, I would turn it off. They call it cinema mode, but i never knew in cinemas for it to be like that (plastic).

Thanks for the replies guys :-) Why did you go for the beocom 1401 over one of the other phones? I'd also love a beosound 1, as I love its design and function, the only issue I have is playing ripped CD's from itunes and the issue with digital audio. For my mac I use WD 5000MT which is FW 400/800 and USB. It's 500GB and bus powered.
