Thanks guys, I will definitely consider doing a resto-thread on this one, mainly because you asked for one but also because this is considered one of the rarer classic pieces and I am very much looking forward to working on it. I got the Beocord home now and it looks just as beautiful in real life as in the photos. I also managed to lay my hands on

They go where the spring supports under the dustcover. There's a little curve to the spring. One each side. Martin

Hi and welcome to Beoworld ! The woofers can be fixed if it's "only" the surround that's falling apart. This is what we call "foam rot" since it is the butyl foam that deteriorates with age and airs moisture. I've done many refoam jobs and I'm in Denmark. There are other refoam'ers out there, if you'd let

Derek, Check the power supply. When it's playing, is the carriage tracking fine ? I've seen tantals in these decks start to fail more frequent recently, so a cap fault can't be ruled out. BC142 - use BC141 instead, it's commonly available. Or at least I have some if everything else fails. Martin

Yes, that's right. The phase control of the motor circuit will allow running at double speed due to a fabrication bug (in some machines). The double speed will typically come if, under acceleration, the belt slips on the motor pulley at start up and the (wrong) speed will then be maintained by the control circuit. A slipping belt will also make

Could be an amplifier problem but could also be a matter of cracked solder joints, I've seen this happen many times, especially in the power supply areas and around the voltage regulators. Sounds like a job for a trained tech guy. Martin

Don't force the stuck tape out ! The belts in your Beocord will have stretched or degenerated, that's normal with age. I can supply sets of drivebelts for Beocord 2000, 3300, 5000, 6000, 6002, 8000, 8002, 8004, 9000 and several others. If can include mounting instructions, they will also tell you how to remove the stuck tape without breaking

I will be happy to take a look at it but since I am in Denmark I'm afraid shipping back and forth will be a bit costly. Surely someone nearer you can help ? Martin

If there's no power at all, you will have to look at the fuses once more. Unplug from mains and rotate the voltage setting switch a couple of times back and forth to break through eventual oxidation - remember to set it correctly again before plugging back into mains. The power switch can also have oxidation, that's very common but not as easy
