A Link7000 is on my list of things to get! I do like the idea of setting timers etc. At the moment, I wake up to iTunes through my Creative speakers, but would much prefer the sound of my stereo in the morning!

I too have seen Avants with funny coloured screens, and it's almost always a tube replacement. That doesn't mean it's GOT to be a tube problem though, it's possible (but unlikely) as Keith says, that it's just the green gun control circuit gone a bit funky...

Bingo: With all the respect. I have seen the Pioneer PDP-508XD and Beovision 9 in the same store together and the Beovision 9 not even comes close to the blacklevel of the Pioneer. That is the plain truth, sorry I can't change that. Everybody who compares it will notice the difference at once! Never done a side by side comparison, but I've seen

That's always going to be difficult. Slimmer cabinets means smaller drive cones, which means less cone excursion and higher resonating frequencies. It's not all about bass though, and I suppose smaller cones also means less cone breakup and hence better midrange. Can't be sure if they will update the 6000s, but it was mentioned a while back on the forum
