The B&O recommended way from the top down for the 5000 system is: Beogram 5000 Beomaster 5000 Beogram CD50 Beocord 5000. It allows you to have all the units open but still easily access all the sources! The 5500 system rather spoilt this by the cassette being directly under the CD tray of the CD50, but this was rectified when the CD5500 was released

Oh, and sell them separately and mention the manuals are there. Good pictures are the secret of a good price.

Very nice older system and probably a little older than you think - the Beomaster 1000 was phased out in 1971. Not worth much these days I am afraid - if you want the best price, sell them on eBay - only a collector would buy them so I am sure they will go to a good home.

The control plate on the 4000 is the one to remove before shipping - or tape it well down. It is a flat aluminium plate - quite heavy and only held on by a couple of copper springs. To get the top plates off a Beogram 6000, pull the wooden surround forward. You may need to pull from the back forward. This realeases the top plates. To remove the control

Actually when I had my 7000 set up, I had two Beocords on the bottom, the BeogramCD and the Beomaster on top and the Beogram LP on the wall bracket.

I like the 6000 - an interesting deck! You will need the Beomaster 6000 next! The keypads are one reason I prefer the 4000. However you can make these look better. Essentially, give it a good clean and then mask it off very carefully and spray it. I would then spray it with a satin lacquer or the paint flakes off. My 4001 was once a 6000!

Have you put a pause between digits? I am a novice at this but when I first got mine, I found that this got past that problem. I made the pause as long as I could!

Clutching at straws now - have you checked the MCL plugs to you main system are in the correct sockets? I doubt it would work at all if not though!

You can of course remove the CD4 board - I have done so with mine as someone wanted it!
