Could well be capacitors - S75s should sound quite bright when working. You can pay whatever you want for capacitors - Martin (Dillen on site) is skilled at restoring old B&O and I am sure his components will be picked to be good value and performance.

I suppose you don't actually need a plug at all - you could just solder a wire to the contacts. It seems very well exposed.

Actually the Beolab 200 was designed as much for the RL7000 as anything else. It can be used as a booster amp with older systems as well and is a super product. The actual electronics are not of the very best quality but they work together extremely well.

I really don't know but just wonder if the gold bit shown is not the end of a plug rather than a socket. I wonder if it got stuck in the socket. The plug is referred to in the manual as a Mini Plug, which is usually a mono mini jack.

Answer machines seem to be a bit of an oddity these days as everyone seems to use Voicemail. I doubt B&O will bring out a new one - and if they do, it has to be better than a 1200! The only problem with this is that the pins in the MMC range can become loose so repeated removing and replacing is not a good idea. The last of the ones available seem to suffer from this in particular. It is clearly a design problem to do with having to wiggle the cartridges in and out as I have heard of some of the Soundsmith cartridges suffering

There are actually quite a few varieties!! I think your one is an early 4002 as it has the heavy platter and AC motor. The 4000 is more massive still and has a strobe assembly and the later models have a much lighter platter and a different sub platter. They all come apart the same way though.
