i can't give you a year of release for 2.1 (i'll bet keith can!) i can tell you it is upgradeable... a chip recently made the round on us ebay. you might get lucky and a dealer may have one on a dusty shelf (if you need it). there is a thread on beoworld about testing 2way on a bm4500... let me go have a look! might there be some confusion here between the "FAQ page" and the "PRODUCTS page?" is this what you were looking for?

in short, a beo4 or bl1000 for that matter, will control it, but not 2way! you will need a bl5000 or bl7000 for that. also, as far as the bm4500 2way... make sure it is at least SW 2.1 or higher! i haven't used mine in a while (i use a bl5000) but IIRC, you will get track# being played but i don't believe track time. the only "time"

i kind of like the braun piece better! at least it seems to be functional whereas the "ReBo" is apparently a static display and, *ahem* 12k euros for either, yikes! anyway, here is another mod using a bc4600 we have seen before, but also deserves a "ReRun" -i rather like it, and it is an impressive bit of modding!

thanks twg... 6000's tend to get a thumbs down here on beoworld, but there has been a thread or two stating the same as you. i am also a defender of the 6000 in the right settings. in my case, it was not the room as much as it was placement. when placed widthwise rather than lengthwise in the room, they really were perfect for the space. sadly,

in simplest terms, it looks like an extension for 5 pin din devices... think early w/o datalink nor control. (e.g.) connecting a bc2000 to bm2400 or similar. it would allow more distant placement. likely could be used elsewhere, anyone???
