Your pictures show the light sensors not a lamp! The two above belong to a gram4000. Also a blown bulb should not result in a the sled responding as you suggest, and oil should not conduct BUT if there was enough it could have acted as a light gathering lens in front of the sensor or something equally strange! Put everything carefully and meticulously

I assume this transformer is electronic i.e. switched-mode? does it say something like 90 - 250v 50/60hz on the label? If so it will be the issue. Try using a traditional suitably rated, regulated power supply instead and this should work fine.

Are you sure you have checked all fuses? Also which relay is energizing?

How much are they going for Jacques? I figured they must fetch a fair sum but as I have not yet seen one sell on UK ebay I haven't a clue what they are worth!

As above you should really assume the stylus will not work, and if it does you have got a bonus! If a channel out then it will not be repairable, but ok if just needs retipping!

The easiest way to tighten the transit screws, and especially as you are removing the panels to get the platter off, is to simply turn the screws from above! Make sure you don't turn the locking screw anchoring the suspension leaf !! you are looking for 3 slotted headless srews that protrude from the suspension clamps - If you are not 100% sure
