Format 3 for me was almost always the worst option! Neil

A good analogue signal on an MX7000 will beat the Avant and BV3 hands down (in my opinion) any day of the week :) Most broadcasts in the UK leave you fiddling around with the format on the Avant (my main reason for not wanting to use one anymore) ... it was the shall I watch in format one and get side bars ... or format two and lose the top or bottom

You will need a top plate to convert the MX4000 motorised based for the MX7000 ... probably these are available from your dealer ... or just buy a cheap floor stand from ebay and raid it from there. The one from the 5000, 5500, 6000 or 7000 are ok. Personally I think 16:9 is massively overrated. The picture on my MX7000 is beautiful ... extremely easy

Personally, having owned RF Avants for a number of years, I find them pretty bland to look at as a piece of furniture ... more striking if you go for the red one, but this is not everyone's choice. The manufacturer of the PCB, the manufacturer of the devices (multiple) and the assembly company are all independant and operating in their own environments with their

Agree with Peter ... but if you compared LX2800 with MX7000 ... I would say the LX is superior.
-
Ah ... well I still have most of mine ... in the vain hope that once the book is published, it may be worth a little more ... fat chance.

ok, on a different tack then ... wait until it fails and then use a freezer spray which will have a very fine jet to cool down and work the problem from the other end. my feeling is that this is probably not a chip fail ... but a systematic PCB soldering fail on one of the large BGA packages ... it would be nice to think that the PCB could be reflowed

Peter : Nick Jarman: Neil - all of the items of yours we photographed made it into the book. In fact, one of them is on the back cover... Can trump that! Apparently my old Beocord 1600 is on the Front cover! Looking forward to getting my copy - of course you do realise that the Beoworld lot will be scouring the copy for any slight error! Though knowing
