What I have done in the past is buy a long run of ML cable (without plugs, as long as you need to get from BM5 to BL3500), then buy a short (1 Meter) ML cable (with plugs) and two ML junction boxes. Instead of using a special tool to add the plug to the cable, I just cut the short cable in 1/2 and then use the junction boxes to wire each plugged end

You're not using any odd characters in your folder names - I remember there was some problem years back with Japanese - I'd recommend just alpha-numeric (numbers and letters, no punctuation) until you get it working. You need to use single level folders. It will not see root level files or nested sub-folders. I think the BS3 is a little more forgiving in this respect. Also, do you have it in "Mac Mode" (I suppose you must, if you've used it with iTunes, but never hurts to double check). Stan

You can definitely operate the BM5 without a BS5, but the BeoSystem 1 might be the hitch. Does it know to pass the N.Music/N.Radio commands to MasterLink (among other things)? I don't know, but I would suggest posting this question on the BeoSound 5 forum. I know there are some owners that just have a BM5 (no BS5) that show up there once in a while
